Your Rooted Voice Instructors
Ellee Achten (she/her), Founder
Ellee is a voice teacher and life coach who has spent over 22 years helping people find and trust the sound of their own truth. She began teaching in 2003 in a small music store in Virginia Beach and has since worked with students ages 6 to 86—each bringing their own story and song.
With eight years of formal training and over a decade of performing and recording in styles from pop and jazz to classical, folk, and punk, Ellee blends technical skill with deep presence. Her work is rooted in somatic experiencing and informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), inviting voice as something felt, not just heard.
She especially loves working with neurocomplex, queer, sensitive, and disabled artists—those often told they’re too much or not enough. Her spaces are gentle, affirming, and real—where every part is welcome, and voice becomes a way home.
She only works with five individual students at a time and accepts new students through video auditions sent to rootedvoice@gmail.com.
Robin Dearmon (she/her)

She focuses on deep relaxation and feeling the “note in your throat.”
Kyle Conover (he/him)
Kyle is a musician and songwriter who studied at The Rooted Voice for more than 8 years before completing the teaching program. He draws from his background as a massage therapist and his interest in body work to explore embodied singing with his students.
Eden Tidd (she/her)
Eden is a musician and vocalist who has nearly a decade of experience teaching students across a range of artistic disciplines. She studied at The Rooted Voice for 6 years before completing the teaching program. Her years of experience as a dancer and dance instructor helps her guide each student in understanding balance in the body in order to find their voice.
Will Paschal (he/him)
Will is an instructor currently offering lessons. After more than 3 years of individual training with Founder Ellee Achten, he also completed the teaching program. His deep interest in philosophy has brought him across many disciplines of study in academia and in life. His desire to teach comes from a desire to connect with others in an impactful way, and also to explore embodiment in all its forms.
Joscelyn Baez (she/her)

Previously, she was a professional dancer and music intern in Los Angeles. While on the west coast, she also taught people with disabilities in music and dance.
